Outreach
Outreach is an essential component of a land-grant university. The University of Connecticut recognizes, supports and encourages outreach and engagement through a wide variety of activities and programs.
Members of the UConn community routinely put their talents to work for the region’s citizens. Their efforts impact every aspect of daily life in towns and cities throughout the Northeast, and beyond.
UConn’s diversified reach includes educational clinics for low-income residents, the UConn Health Center’s Poison Control Center and a Connecticut Cooperative Extension System that provides assistance in such areas as youth leadership, pesticide safety, forest stewardship and residential water quality.
Many UConn students also volunteer their time for a variety of service projects that include building homes for underprivileged families, tutoring youth in after-school programs and coaching in the Special Olympics program.
